How to use Matchmaking?

What is needed to add the Matchmaking module to your Vaya Visitor App? On this page we list it for you together with some background information about this tool.

Introduction

This is not really a tutorial, but more of a document in which we tell you what is involved on your side when using Matchmaking in the Vaya Visitor App. To experience this module as a participant, we have created a demo app. Before you read any further, we recommend that you check out this app (preferably on your phone) and get matched. For the record: your data is not retained and is deleted very regularly by our privacy robots. You open the demo app (in Dutch) via this link.

Mandatory or optional?

App users are asked to make their choices to complete their personal profile. Depending on your preference, this is mandatory or optional. For optimal results, we recommend making participation mandatory, especially if you primarily use our app as a matchmaking app or if Matchmaking is an essential part of your event. If you see the module as a nice add-on, then optional is probably the most logical choice. Participants can then use the app without having made their selection first.

How many questions?

When determining the ideal number of questions, you can turn three knobs::

• The number of participants (expected) to participate in Matchmaking

• The average number of 'perfect matches' per participant
  This number is an average, because some options will be selected more often than other options. In addition to perfect matches (that is, both participants have made exactly the same choices), there are also good and average matches, so you can always connect.
• The number of choices per question
  The more choices, the more unique profiles possible and the smaller the chance of a perfect match. It is also possible to vary the number of options per question.
  

Inquiries with our smart developers revealed that there is a formula to help determine the number of questions. Quite complex, with logaritmos and such:

NUMBER OF QUESTIONS = ln(NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS/AVERAGE NUMBER OF PERFECT MATCHES) / ln(NUMBER OF CHOICES PER QUESTIONS)

Questions and answers

As you can see in the demo app, we kept questions and answers short.

• It is best if the question does not take up more than one line. Keep approximately 50 characters (including spaces) for this.
• The answers mainly serve to clarify the photos. We recommend that these texts do not exceed 25 characters (including spaces).

Images

We would also like to receive images for the different options. These can be either JPG or PNG files. The preferred size is square (256 x 256 pixels). Can't quite figure it out? Then our designer would be happy to help you!
