How to create and send a mailing

Want to send a mailing from Puerto yourself? For that you need an email message and an audience. These two components come together within a campaign. How? We'll tell you that in this tutorial!

To the right place in Puerto

Before you continue, you cannot create a campaign until you have created and saved a ready-to-send email message within Puerto. You can read how to do this in the Edit emails tutorial.

You will find the email campaigns on the left in the bar under Communication. Here you will find all your email campaigns spread over four tabs. In the first tab (All) you see all campaigns, in the second (Pending) the scheduled campaigns, in the third (Running) the campaigns that are currently being sent (you can abort and pause these) and in the last (Finished) the completed campaigns. To start a new campaign, click on the plus in the top right corner of the overview:

The audience of your mailing

Once you click on the plus, a pop-up will appear with seven steps:

The first four steps relate to the audience of this mailing. You compile this target group from the guest overview of your event. You can read how to do this in the tutorial Make guest selections with filters.

As soon as you email your guest selection, you must be very sure that the filter is correct and that you have selected the correct guests. So check, check and double check, and in case of any doubts: our registration specialists are happy to take a look with you! 

 

The details of your campaign

Email message? Check! Target audience? Check, check and double check! You will now merge these two parts on the details page of your campaign. Before you fill in the details, first scroll down. Under Receivers you can see which guests will receive your email. If this is not correct, please adjust your filters!

Under Details you will see the following fields:

  • Under Name, enter the name of your campaign. That is an internal name, which can only be seen within Puerto.
  • The Sending frequency is set to 30 messages per minute by default, and for good reason. We recommend leaving this setting unchanged for optimal deliverability.
  • Under Email, select the email you want to send from the pulldown with available emails.
  • At Sending moment you have the choice to start sending immediately or select a sending moment (date/time) in the future.
  • A check mark at Ongoing campaign ensures that this email is also sent to future guests who fall within the filter of this campaign.

Completed everything? Then scroll down and press the orange Save button. Shipping will begin - depending on your choice - within a minute or at the time you select..

 

Curious about the results of a campaign? Click on the button with the bar graph in the overview (on the right of your screen) for a detailed report!
